I have a 2002 f150 5.4 liter that has a bad transmission. I bought a transmission that the guy swore would work in it but I want to make sure bc it doesn't look like the same one. I'm sending pics of the numbers on the new one.

Reason: More info
There is always the possibility it may not be the trans, but just appears that way.
That "replacement" should be in the scrapyard. No fun after installing it, only to find it has problems too.
Any guaranty ?
Are we sure the problem is inside the original trans ?
Thanks Hanky! Yes it definitely the trans. We took it out to replace the flywheel. When we put it back in the torch converter wasn't all the way in (3 clicks). My hubby started it and drove it and burnt the pump up. I was told this trans is beefier. It came out of a RV but would still work. I just want to make sure before we do all the work putting it in. I tried to find something about it online with no result. I'm hoping someone on here would know.
As you may already know the torque converter has tangs that must index with the pump gear on installation.
It may be cheaper to have the old trans repaired and reinstall it once.as compared to installing a trans you know very little about.
Circumstances cause us to make some painful decisions and rushing through them could get costly. You have to do what you have to do.
Without disassembling the original trans to determine the extent of damage, difficult to offer a cure all..
Hope you are successful with the replacement trans, please keep us informed, thanks.
A little FYI,,,,,,,junk from the damage to the original trans is now also in the trans cooler and should be flushed out before starting the engine.after replacing trans, OK.?
