Default 2007 Ford F150 4X4 Transfer Case Fluid

I am going to change out my Transfer Case fluid in a 2007 pickup. The owners manual recommends Motorcraft MERCON ATF. (XT-2-QDX/ MERCON). Does this fluid change up to Mercon V or Mercon LV?
My 2009 F150 owners manual says to use Transfer Case fluid (part # XL-12).
I want to make sure I don't create any problems which I currently don't have!

Mercon would have been the old OE and service fill, and if you look on the face of the Mercon V bottle it states ‘Mercon Compatable’ which it is for a backwards compatibility in many transmission applications.
If you read the back of the V bottle it states Do Not use in Transfer cases. LV would be incorrect.
The correct replacement would be XL-12 or similar product.

Thanks for the reply Hayapower! I am going to try to find the XL-12 Transfer Case Fluid as per owners manual. Hopefully its still being produced?

Default Update:

Just thought I would post a FYI only. Talked to the local Ford dealer today and was shown the bulletin. The dealerships were notified of the changes November/2017. Simply to keep ordering the Transfer Case Fluid (CXL-12) until the inventory was depleted. Once depleted, begin substituting with the approved replacement. (CXT-10-LV12) which is Mercon LV. It did clearly state that it was approved by Ford Engineers on this bulletin.Hope this clears up the dilema.

As a service fill, probably will be XL’s replacement, but you wouldn’t want to blend the two under normal top/replacement..
