Default 2011 F-150 Transmission Issue

Hello everyone, I hope you can help. In March 2017 I had to replace the transmission in my 2011 F-150, 5.0 XLT. I got a new trans (reman) put in at the local Ford dealer. They said it would have a 3 year warranty on it. I had to take the truck back into the dealer today because i noticed red fluid under my truck last night. I got a call back from the dealer and they said its the transmission pump seal that is leaking. However, they told me they do not replace this part when they do new transmissions. So now they're telling me i have to pay $1,300 to get an $8 part repaired (10 hours of labor charged).

Does this make sense that they would not replace the seal when they put in a new trans? I feel like paying $1,300 is quite a bit much when I just paid $3,200 for a new trans less than 2 years ago. Can anyone help?

Not true,, ‘All’ sealing parts within the unit are replaced as part of the reman. There’s no way Ford or another quality rebuilder would risk a unit failure and liability of, for a used seal to remain and not be replaced.

If your within warranty coverage,, that includes spec unit operation and zero leaks.. If outside the warranty period, may be some argument..
I’ve installed many Ford remans,, and I’ve never seen any sort of gasket or seal reused. ..Ever....

There can be such a thing as a defective seal, bad installation, worn parts in pump or torque converter, but a reman means any and all normal wear parts are replaced with "new" and updated with the latest fixes. My question is , did you really get a "Remanfactured" trans or the dealer possibly pull a fast one? You should have received some paperwork with the warranty stating you rec'd a remanufactured trans. If not ask for it and your warranty is stated there in full ! Grant you sometimes , things can go wrong, but that is why you selected to get a reman because they rarely give problems and if they do there is no question if it fails for any reason except abuse OR improper installation.
