Default 2011 XLT Right turn indicator not staying engaged

Hey y'all, I just bought my truck and found that the right turn indicator functions when held up but does not stay engaged and falls back to the neutral position. I saw online that I may have to replace the whole stalk, but I'm looking to see if I can repair it myself. Does anybody know what causes this issue, and if so, how should I fix it? Replacing the stalk looks like it'll be 30-60 bucks and I'm hoping not to spend that. If there's an answer on this forum, can I please have the link there? Thanks.

Remove the steering column shrouds then take the switch out and inspect, I doubt it's at all fixable or worth the time to inspect, just buy a new one, you know replacing a new (not used) one can resolve the issue why wait. You think it can be electrical problem? Most likely not. You think a electronic cleaner can clean and fix the issue? I highly doubt it.

I got into the shroud the other day and found that the stalk works fine, but the bracket it's mounted to was shattered. It looks like the last owner fell onto the stalk and held it together with zip ties. I strapped it back up and wedged a couple of pieces of the plastic that fell off so it didn't jiggle around. I don't have time to take off the steering wheel right now so it'll have to do.

You probably don't have to take off the steering wheel, so don't do extra work when it's unnecessary.

Thanks for your follow up on this.
