Hello,Have 7 pin plug in bumper for trailer lights, does tow brake work without module installed and programmed automatically? or need module installed to adjust it or to work.
Had module installed but local shop cant program it with Forscan.org program says to take to dealer which Im trying to avoid.
But others on Youtube were able to do theirs recently with that program same yr. Dealer wants $200 to program.

Did more research and still cant find out how Forscan works (wont prompt vehicle to enter)and yes it needs module programmed for it to work

 

Considering,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the possible cost if it is not done or done correctly could be a lot more costly than if was done once CORRECTLY.

 

Let's assume your truck didn't come with that module preinstalled, if it did, it must be preprogrammed already and you just need to hook it up and that's it and it can be as simple as adding a fuse to enable it, and don't overthinking too much that you must program it before use.
Which forscan type and version, laptop or your mobile phone, which cable?
Learn how to walk before you run. If you are not familiar with programming, don't do it yourself. If you make a mistake it can cost you $200 x 10.
