Default 82 f150 clutch

So I need to replace the clutch in my dads 82 f150. It has an inline 6 cylinder with a 4 speed and 208 transfercase. So my question is would it be easier to unbolt the engine and move it forward or move the tranny and case back? From what I can see it seems the engine would be 10 times easier than the other. May be I am not thinking it all the way through and it cannot be done this way so I figured I would ask some of you. Usually always good suggestions and help from you guys!!!! Thanks for your time, George.

I would remove the drive shaft(s) and move the tranny and transfer case back.
