i think you mean you have to adjust the choke pull-off, don,t you ! the choke pull-off is what opens the choke part way after it starts so it won,t load up and allows it to sit there and fast idle ! the choke opens it the rest of the way and as soon as you kick it down it goes back to regular idle !

the 4.9 or 300 inline six's are the best engines as far as i'm concerned they had way more power than the 5.0 ever had. I have a question for Hanky or greasemark I haven't been on here in a little while.

I've a friend that has a 89 E250 cargo van it has a 4.9 with auto trans. it will start then dies right after start up. my problem is if there is vac leak will that stop it from running and I don't where the line from the pcv goes to. there's two of them.

There should be a PCV system hose that goes to a PCV breather filter in the air cleaner
housing.
The hose with the PCV valve off the valve cover should go to the intake manifold.
If the PCV valve is absent or stuck open, will produce hard starting/stalling due to big vacuum leak. What did you find on that vehicle?

I still don't like fuel injection multipoint or other wise. but being as how this don't belong to me I can't just get it wrong and hope for the best. I plugged off that little vac. line that seemed to go nowhere. my friend has sunk almost $500 in it so far and still same results replaced plugs wires dist. cap and bug changed pressure reg. and even put in a new filter and fuel pump it still doesn't do what it's designed to do. I'm thinking about taking off the throttle body and after removing the sensors letting it soak in some carb. cleaner overnight then reset the damn computer
