Axle bolt shearing
I have a 2021 F-150 lariat Hybrid. 24,000 miles. I took it in to dealership for oil change and tire rotation October 22 2022. Service tech noticed the axle bolt was sheared into on the rear wheel on driver's side. Dealership kept my truck and gave me a car to drive while waiting on new axle to come in which is on backorder. I have learned this is not an isolated incident. Ford should issue recall or ar very least issue extended warranty for this problem. Beware and check your trucks and advise if you have experienced this problem.
If I understand your post correctly, does "axle bolt" mean one of the studs that hold the wheel on to the axle?
If so, axle bolts can be individually replaced,,,,,,,,,,,,unless,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,they are of poor quality, or were over tightened when a torque wrench should have been used.
Can you get an answer as to why they are replacing the entire axle assy? Thank You.
