distributor timing
i have a 1988 f150 4x4 with a smallblock 302 in it and im having trouble gitting the timing set we tried to set it 15426378 as listed by factory. it will crank wen set but no matter what we tried it wont run properly we ended up having to set it back to where it was before
does it matter that the motor isnt the original. one of the previous owners had put this one in so its not the original
From the info I have , a carburetor 5.0L engine used a firing order of 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
A EFI engine used the firing order of 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.
Both firing orders on the caps were counterclockwise.
I can't at this time explain why they used different firing orders except if the engine never ran right ,you could see what happens if you try the different firing order.
