Default Fuel Pump????

I'm almost finished tuning up my 2002 F-150 4x4 5.4L. The only problem is one itsy bitsy thing that's driving me nutz!! Hopefully, someone can offer me directions, or suggestions?

Symptom: While driving in the Ozarks (Steep Hills & Whindy Roads), I notice that when I keep my speed or gas peddle at 50 - 58 mph, the engine chugs a bit, almost as if it's not getting gas. If I rev up the RPM's and give it gas, it doesn't do it. Or, if I let off the gas and cost, it will not do it. And, it doesn't seem to do it at other speeds. If so, it's not noticable.

Cause: Fuel Pump? Thoughts?

I've checked the Fuel Pump fuse and Relay and they're okay. I haven't checked anything around the fuel pump or gas tank. I also have checked the Inertia Switch either. I'm thinking, since my "check engine" light hasn't come on, it has to be a fuel or air problem?

In advance, thank you for your thoughts? Also, if I have to change out the pump, about how long does that take 3 - 4 hours?

Before you change the pump, check your fuel pressure and change out the fuel filter. Do the simple things first.

Bullitt, thanks for the reply.

I've already changed my fuel filter, so I'll check the pressure. I suppose I need to buy a pressure gauge from AutoZone or someplace, right?
