gas milage

Default gas milage

I just recently bought an F150 regular cab 4.6 styleside automatic.... just went through my first tank of gas and only got 11 to the gal......is this normal (brand new truck no miles on it when purchased

That may be a little low, but I imagine that since it is a new truck the first tank may have been used on "testing it out" with hard accelerating, burners, speeding, ect.

My last new car was a 2004 Dodge Neon. And I had the same thing happen. Over at DF they told me that they all do that for the first 1500 miles. And sure enough around 1500 miles I got better gas mileage. Someone explained they do that so it gets properly broken in. Don't know if it is myth or not, but made sense. By 3000 miles it was getting even better mileage.

it is possible that being a brand new motor that the rings are not fully seated yet. If this is whats causing your problem, like the others said, it will get better after you get some miles on it.

Well it is definatly not my foot stuck in the throttle. i have been trying to baby it since i am breaking in the motor. just hope it gets better.

they always get better ford states you will not get the best mileage untill over 10 k

well i just checked the milage again and already it went up to 15 mpg (whew what a relief!!)
