had a simCheck Engine light
I am new to the board and wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. I have a 97 Ford 150 with 114,000 miles. The heat sensor never showed that the engine was hot nor did the oil light ever show it was low. The check engine light came on and by that time I had a blown engine. I had the engine replaced, along with the clutch and radiator. When I was diving home today, half way home (about 150 miles) the check engine light came on again!. I stopped made sure it had oil and water and decided I had to chance it to get home. This is very frustrating.
Any thoughts on why the chec engine light would come on again? What else could be wrong?

YES very odd indeed !!!!, on the way home you said the check engine lite came on again, Was the Oil an Coolant ok ???,,,, I would highly suggest you get a set of Mechanical Gauges, a decent set will only run you like $40.00 an there not that diffucilt to install . That way you get a good idea whats going on all the time. Usually by the time the dash warning lamps come on its to late, the damage is done--the coolant senser needs coolant to read the temp. if its outta coolant the senser wont work-Does that make sense ?, Do you know if anyone ever checked the computer for codes ?
Yea, gauges don't work so great at warning you on low fluid levels, that you have to do on your own.
Most newer trucks do now, like my 2000 chevy it gives you a low oil level warning. At first I tought it was just the change oil warning and drove the thing from El Paso to Corpus. Thats one long trip, before leaving Corpus to Austin I check the oil and was 3 querts low. I was very lucking I didn't blow the engine, but am mad the stupid thing uses oil.
The check engine light is probly just a bad sensor by coincidence.

Go th a garage or an autozone and have them scan your computer with an engine diagnostics scan tool. The plug-in is near the dash and it takes two minutes. It is free at autozone or shoud be free or cheap at a shop. The tool will bring up the trouble code that made the Check engine light come on and tell you what is wrong.
