Default Help with 1988 f150 tranny

My 1988 f150 has to warm up in order to go into drive. It goes into reverse fine, but no drive until it warms up. After that it runs fine with the exception of an occasional slip. Fluid is good. Thanks in advance.

[sm=welcomesign.gif]Sounds like the seal's are worn in the transmission.[hr]You can try to change the fluid and filter it might help.

Yep, The same thing happened to my Park Avenue. After it warmed up it was fine. If I shifted it in reverse first for a min it would warm up faster.
I tried changing the filter and pan fluid be it didn't help. I even tried lucus nothing helped. It seemed to be worse in cold weather and took a little longer to warm up. I drove it 30k miles like that for a year and then sold it. It still ran great after it warmed up.
