Help with my F-150 2008
Hello ! I'll try to make it short, we bought an F-150 in 2023 that my partner overhauled himself (transmission + engine, it's his job), we've been driving it without any problems since. A few months ago, he changed the key cylinder because it was playing up (so he changed the cylinder + reprogrammed 2 new keys to the original one).
We went on a road trip last month and covered 8000km, the fuel pump broke on the road, we had it repaired at a garage (no choice). We've been home since, my partner came home from work on Wednesday, parked his car at the back of the house and when he wanted to leave on Thursday morning it couldn't start...
Note that:
- The pump was changed last month (he retested it works well)
- control module also changed
- he has no error code, no engine light
- The starter motor turns over fine when it tries to start.
He suspects the key transmitter/receiver ring but is not 100% sure. No problem with the warning light. He says the reader is not reading any of the 3 keys, even the original one... Does anyone have a clue?

Do you know if he is getting power to the injectors and coils , and are they getting their ground signal from the PCM ?
Sometimes we go off looking for a complicated problem when the simple things like checking the involved fuses just gets overlooked.
Even experts get one every so often, lol.
Did he pull a spark plug or two to help tell if it is getting fuel or spark ?

I would ask him the question, I know he checked the fuses and everything is ok! I don't want to specifically specify that it's his job, but he has dismantled/reassembled quite a few engines, so he knows a lot about it, but "electronic" problems are not really his strong point 😅
I don't think he checked the spark plugs because they were changed recently. But I'll tell him to check!

When we suggest checking the spark plugs, we are looking for 2 things,
Are they wet or dry ?
If wet, we know fuel is getting to the combustion chamber, so fuel can be somewhat eliminated and we verify spark is getting to the plugs
If dry, we continue looking for fuel delivery and supply problems.

ok I'll let him know but he should know I think. Does the receiver/transmitter ring for the keys drive the starter even when it's out of service? Is there an engine light saying it's not the ''good key''? We wonder if the problem could come from there or not.
Sorry my english isn't perfect 😅

We always suggest trying another key because keys can loose their coding.
We at this time do not know all the particulars regarding why the fuel pump was changed AND MAYBE it was not necessarily a faulty fuel pump but possibly a poor connection that was disturbed in the process of replacing the fuel pump. Many good fuel pumps are replaced when poor diagnosis was performed.

My partner says that he checked the spark plugs and everything is working on that side, he hears the pump running and everything is pressurizing.
He put in starting fluid, and the car is slurping. I don't know where it could be coming from.
