Now I need some help,,,,,,what do you mean by slurping ?

If we spray a very small shot of starting fluid , it either tries to run or knocks and does nothing else .

If it attempts to run, we have a fuel supply problem which could be injectors, fuel supply , or fuel pressure. Just because the pump runs does not mean it is delivering fuel at the required pressure.
The only right way to check the pressure , IS WITH A FUEL PRESSURE GAUGE . Everything else is guessing and that can be costly.

Could it also be the pressure sensor?

The engine started running with the starting fluid but as soon as we stopped spraying nothing happened anymore.

YES !

The pressure sensor when operating correctly sends the pressure info to the PCM which sends pulsed power to the fuel pump driver module to maintain a steady required pressure. It is time to bite the bullet and get a gauge there to see what you have or don't have.

My partner took out the fuel pump, and the hose on the pump that sends fuel was completely disassembled... 🙄

Thank you for the update.
Makes you wonder about the place that installed the replacement pump.

The pump doesn't come with a new pick up hose/ line and if not secured properly this time, it will come off again.

Dropping a fuel tank , especially if with a full tank of gas, is no fun.

My partner put a cable tie on it, but it's possible it could happen again. It took him 30 minutes to assemble/disassemble it, but it's no fun either!
