Default intermittent transmission issue

Hi. So my 97 f150 is having shifting issues intermittently... If I turn off the truck and restart it, it's fine for a few then starts again, either not grabbing a gear or runs high rpms and then falls in... Usually happens after highway speeds. Any thoughts?

Is there any chance you could have the computer checked for any codes. If there are any it might help provide some direction and maybe save some time. A lot of auto supply stores will do this free of charge and I believe Autozone is one of them.

Maybe you have a transmission fluid leak?
