Default 2000 F350 intermittent starting issue

I wonder if this problem is not a result of the Cam sensor that they recalled?
2000 F350 sometimes won't start. it will crank but not fire. If a wait about 10 mins it starts just fine. Does not happen every time but every time it happens 10 mins wait fixes it, so far. It is very frustrating.
Thanks
Steff

No smoke when it starts, I don't think, but almost like it wants to stall out sometimes.

Do you know if you have spark at the time it won't start?

We must have spark because it will start with starting fluid. It will not stay running though.

Since it will start and run with starting fluid that would rule out a cam and/or crank sensor and confirm it has spark.
Now the next step is to check the fuel pump for power and ground connections.
This could involve anything from the fuel pump relay , fuse connections that supply power and possibly a questionable ground connection.
Has the windshield ever been replaced in this vehicle?

I have no idea on the windshield, I bought it used.
Why would that matter?
Well had to get it towed to the mechanics. I need to have a car.
He said there was no fuel pressure. Guess he is going to change the fuel pump. Does that sound right? I always thought once a fuel pump stopped working it would not start working again.

If the windshield lost its seal, sometimes the water intrusion would make its way down the cowl/harness and into the module/fuse panel causing issues..

With the in tank mounted pumps they can certainly be intermittent. Usually tow outfits and techs will cycle the key On and give the tank bottom a good 'thump', sometimes a sick pump will run with some help.. Others, after some run/drive time may shut off when driving, or, when the engine is shut off and on a quick restart won't start due to no pump run. Banging the tank, or repeated key cycles/crank attempts may get the pump to run. Or a cooling period my result in a run.

If there's power through the inertia switch, and at the pump connector, most likely its the pump. Not always, and other possibilities too, but more often not..
