Default Overdrive control

I am no longer able to turn the overdrive off with button on the shift lever. I can turn the overdrive off while in park. The overdrive will remain off until I stop, put the shift selector back into park. I can not turn the overdrive off with the shifter in any other selection while moving or at a compleat stop. I'm driving a 94 F1-50 with an E4OD. Any thoughts?

Hello Dawggtired,
As you may have noticed there are two main plugs on your transmission, one on each side The one on the driver's side is plugged into the trans range switch(neutral safety switch) and the other should be midpoint on the passenger side.
If you CAREFULLY unplug them and check for corrosion it could be the cause of the problem. If you see green corrosion just clean it out with some penetrating oil spray and dry thoroughly. I have had many varied problems from corrosion at these points and just maybe it will solve the problem.

Thanks, Hanky;
Sorry it has taking so long to respond. I've been putting my ford fivehundred back together after my son got ahold of it. He discovered that ford sedans and Chevy trucks don't just bounce off each other. I now have time to put your advice to work. I'll let you know how it works out.
Thanks, Ken
