I am currently trying to replace the brake hose on the front driver side tire on my '03 F150. I cannot get the brake hose unscrewed from the rest of the brake line that runs up in the truck, looks like its rusted shut. I've tried pb blaster and it hasn't budged yet. It's getting to the point where I'm about to make it a circle bolt instead of a hex, any ideas on breaking it free?

 

Breaking the connection loose only creates more problems it the components are well rusted.
Go to a good auto supply store and you can sometimes get steel lines already made up that will fit in your vehicle. They are most likely "Metric" so don't attempt to use std fittings. Explain what you are planning to replace and where it is located and they should be able to come up with the parts you will need. You will also need a quart of DOT3 brake fluid. To get the fitting nut loose a good pair of vise grip pliers will get the nut loose, but will ruin it also. If you have all the parts before starting the job,you will be able to complete it at the same time. You may need to replace the entire length of brake line from the brake hose at the wheel on up to where the next connection is located and that is usually at the brake master cylinder.Make sure you have all the parts you need before starting the job You might consider having a good shop do the job. Brakes systems don't tolerate any mistakes and you expect them to work when needed.

 

Heat the fitting red hot if you can then cool it with water quickly, keep water on it until cold. it should become loose.

 

The heat process works well with most rusted nuts, bolts and studs,,,,,,,,,,,But I would be very careful with the heat that close to the brake hose. Not fun if that stuff catches fire.
