tie rod

yes i just got my truck inspected and i got it passed but barely,my tie rod has a gap in where i think my steering column joins with it what is the easiest way to fix this or do i have to replace it

If any steering linkage is loose, the only way to repair is to replace it with new parts. If it is a tie-rod as you indicated, you will also need an alignment.
