Me and my buddy are rebulding the moter in his 78 F-150 it is a 351M we already have a 484/510 lift cam and full length headers what are some ways to make more HP with out doing a swap we are on a limited budget what is the longest stroke crank we can put in it any one know any help would be great

 

put a double pumper carb. on it

 

High flow air filter, four barrel carb, aftermarket intake, better plugs, wires, ignition, etc., more aggressive cam, rollers for lifters and rockers, etc.

If you are doing a complete rebuild, there are a lot of options...

 

B4 you overcam the engine I would consider the following. Instead of changing stroke, send the heads to a reputable machine shop in your area and have some port work done. Everything else won't give you much if you don't have the flow to support it. Next if it is an automatic you better consider a converter upgrade if that is your cam of choice. 2800-3500 range would benefit that cam nicely. Next top it with a good 4 barrel intake and mabey an edelbrock carb btwn 650cfm-750cfm.

 

we have a holly 850 4 barrel carb but it needs rebulit is there a kit you can buy to do this and will this be to much carb we are having the heads ported and planing .05 in off the heads not sure if we want to go with stright pipes or chery bomb glass packs
