My 02 F250 had a broken dipstick tube,, not a fun job,,, but my son got it fixed. It started with the top half broken off just above the exhaust manifold. At first, it almost looked like maybe not such a bad job,, well, it was a #$%%^%^. Hr grabbed the tube with vice grips to wiggle and turn tube, it did,,, then broke off right a engine,,,,ugh,,,,,,,,,,,,,, After some head scratching,,, I said try this easy out,,, maybe it will back out,,, so that and a socket,, did turn the tube,, but did not back it out or up,,,, so, we put a drill on socket with 1/4 in extensions, and swivel,, got the tube stub spinning,,,but still would not raise or come up and out,,,, the spinning did buff clean the hole,, and the tube o-ring now lives in the oil pan,,, put in need a pull up to get it out,,,, so, he welded the eay out, 10mm long 12pt socket to that,, then a short extension to socket,,, that was the right length to allow grabbing it with vice grips , to twist and "pull-up" ,,,, after a small fight it did pop out,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BOOYAH !!! new on popped in,, pretty easy,,,, maybe this have done a hundred times and is old news,,,,,if so sorry for the boring story,,,,
