Default 2003 7.3 fuel problem

I have a 2003 7.3. When the fuel gauge gets in middle of 1/4 tank and empty the truck spudders and shuts down like it ran out of fuel. Second time this has happened to me. Anyone else have same problem and why may it be? Thanks in advance

If you are sure the gauge is accurate the next thing to determine is if there is junk in the bottom of the tank clogging the inlet filter. There could also be a crack/opening in the pick up tube of the fuel module that when the fuel level gets to the point it begins to suck in air. If possible try to insert a piece of clear tubing into the line to the fuel filter to confirm if air is getting into the fuel system. If so , you should see the bubbles in the tubing.
