Default 2008 F350 Won't Shift

I had my 2008 F350 towed home and now the truck will not start. It appears the gear is in "D" Drive. When I go to move the gear, the shifter moves up and down but no movement of the trans. Also, the truck will not start.

I checked a solid majority of the fuses and I havent found a blown fuse.

Thoughts? TY! Sam

It is not a fuse. Have a helper attempt to move the gearshift through its range. You slide under to see if the linkage is moving and the lever on the transmission is moving with the linkage. . If something has broken and the transmission is stuck in drive, you will not be able to crank the engine. The neutral safety switch will prevent the starter from cranking if the gear is not in neutral or park.

If the towing co had no key or couldn't for some reason get the vehicle out of park, what they do is disconnect the shift cable from the trans arm and place the trans in neutral for towing.or to get on a dolly.
When they reconnected the parts they disconnected , they just hooked them up , but never checked if it was adjusted properly. There is also an adjustment down at the trans.

Damaged, misadjusted or disconnected linkage. You won't know until you slide under for a look.
