Default 2011 F-350 Engine light on

My engine light comes on only after highway driving and will go out after regular in town driving

Welcome to the site..

You can take to some of the parts supply houses like Autozone etc, and they can read the code at no cost. Even if the light is off, there should be a history code stored.

Thanks for your response. What I've been told is that these motors are designed for heavy work load and since I've retired I just drive to town etc. I was told that they need higher octane than what is supplied in my diesel fuel so I should add an additive. Not sure if its making any difference. The engine light only comes on when I've been highway driving for an hour or so and remains on until I get back to driving around town . Not sure what this means

A ‘cetane’ booster shouldn’t be needed.

If you can have it scanned as noted above, we should be able to help.
Without knowing the cause of the light, a guess at best...
