Good day diesel guru’s! I was driving my 7.3 when the engine cut out. I turned the wheel to make a U for a safer landing, and all the sudden my steering became almost nonexistent. When I finally stopped I saw that the hydro boost line had popped from the pump. I replaced the line only to find out the pump had also died. After replacing that, I flushed the lines and took it for a quick spin around the block and everything was fine. No noise, brakes worked, steering was on point. After about 2 miles, brakes and steering almost totally went out, but no noise from the pump... I used ATF as the power steering fluid. I flushed it from the return port of the pump. What could be wrong? Thank you!!

 

If you let it set overnight you might find the level has dropped . Maybe all the air was not purged.
If all is OK , possible problem with faulty pump.

 

Thanks, I let it sit over night and tried doing the left/right maneuver again. No love... could I have gotten a bad refurb or does it need to sit longer?
