Default 2002 7.3 diesel power steering/brakes

Hello all. I was wondering wtf is up with my truck! tonight up on the mountain, I found out I had a hole in one of my power steering hoses that look to run into a cooler of some sort under the radiator. Well, I lost my power steering, and also my brakes. I would stop every so often and put power steering fluid in and I would get back steering and brakes until the fluid leaked all out. Is this normal to lose the brakes. Thanks for any input.

Yes it is.
The vehicle has what is called a Hydroboost system where the power steering pump supplies fluid pressure to assist with braking and power steering. Just replace the hose with the correct replacement and when filling the system recheck the level a few times after turning the steering wheel to help get any air out of the system.
