I have a 94 7.3 idi factory turbo. From time to time the turbo quits making noise, and the engine gets louder and runs rough but it's not idling up when its louder. What's going on

 

Most folks don't allow a turbo to cool down when ready to shut down the engine and that takes it's toll on the turbo.
They should not make any unusual noise except maybe a slight whine when coming down from high rpm. Don't know if the noise you are referring to is from a loose intake hose or some other noise. Make sure all the hose clamps are tight and no air is escaping when you rev up the engine.

 

Would a stuck waste gate be the problem and how to fix

 

Hay guys! I have 2000 7.3 turbo. During wide open throttle and overdrive over 1700 rpm the waste gate opens constantly...any ideas on the problem?
