Default 99 250 vacuum reservoir

Hello All. I am a new member here looking for some help on my 99 F 250 5.4 Triton. A/C cycles from panel to defrost vent when accelerating and back when you leave off the gas. I have had this happening for a while and just put up with it. Now I have developed a miss in the engine when about 45-55 mph, which causes brief shaking. The garage says they have traced the problem to my vacuum reservoir, that it is leaking from the top and bottom chamber. I have contacted Ford Parts and they say it is a discontinued part and none available on the east coast. Part # FOTZ 9E453A. I have also tried to source one of these from my local junk yards, auto parts, and rock auto with no luck.
Any advice and direction would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance

You're gonna love this!
Years back Ford used to have what looked like a tomato juice can for a vacuum reservoir. As well as memory serves me , they didn't have many problems with that. But when they went to plastic containers, well,,, you have first hand experience on this one.
If you are handy you can solder a piece of tubing , the correct size to a clean HI C or large tomato juice can and clamp it with a stainless steel hose clamp to a clear spot and connect the vacuum line from the old reservoir and it will probably outlast the vehicle. The bonus is you get to choose whether you want tomato juice or HI C !
Just don't forget to drain the can through a small hole in the center of one of the ends so you can solder the tubing to the can.

Salvage yard may have one already available.

Thanks for the reply, but where this is a two chamber res, should I use two cans if it comes to that. my search for a new res has been completely unsuccessful.

If the reservoir has one hose and two chambers , one large container should be sufficient. Is the vacuum diagram still readable under the hood? Does it show more than one vacuum connection to the reservoir?
