Default Alternator and battery light

Hey, I have a 2011 F250 6.2 gas and the alternator died. I opted to go with a new 300amp model to support the off road lighting and the winch. She is charging fine at a tick over 14v. Weird thing is the battery light is on. Truck runs great. Any idea what would cause that or is the extra power causing the computer to think there is a problem??

My first question of course is, where did the alt come from?`

Some rebuilders can't seem to get them right and they come with problems. Alternators from Ford usually work with no problems.
Something of which you should be aware.
If you are going to try to send much higher current through the original wiring, you could overload that wiring because it is not made to carry that large amount of current and it will get HOT and now the can of worms opens.
If you get to the point that operation requires a lot more current than the truck was built to put out, installing a higher output alternator is only half the job. The other half is increase the current carrying capacity of the wiring from the alt to the battery
If the cables for the winch, for example, are larger than the wiring presently coming off the alt, that wire from the alt should at least match the size in diameter as the winch cables. We don't know how much current the winch and other drains add up to , but it is important to use the right parts to prevent other problems.

I'd also do a quick check for A/C voltage.

Should measure less than .5 V AC with the engine running
