Brake Backing Plate

Brake Backing Plate
I was doing a brake job on my 2011 F-250. When I removed the rotor on the 1st of the rear wheels (the right side) I found the brake backing plate half rusted away and nothing holding the park brake shoes together. I immediately went and ordered parts, and when I did, I ordered everything for both sides. I have the right side reassembled and now have taken the left side apart. There's not a thing wrong with the backing plate and park brake shoes on the left side. Since the backing plate has nothing to do with breaking open a brake line (which I have not done), do I "need" to replace the left side too? I know I've already bought the parts, but it's a pretty big job taking it the rest of the way down to removing the Axle and backing plate. If it doesn't hurt leaving the left side old, I think I'd rather put these new parts up until later down the road when and if it does rust out.

If you clean the left side and it appears healthy, you might consider putting a coat of paint on it and reassembling everything. The parts won't eat while they are setting and as stated if the present parts on the vehicle are good, do you need the extra work?
