Default diesel leak top of engine

My 99.5 7.3l is leaking diesel on top of the engine. It looks to be leaking from the filter drain. The filter drain valve lever feels loose, it "wiggles". It doesn't leak immediately at startup. The amount it leaks varies, some days so much you must park it then it will go for days and you'll hardly see a drop on the ground. Can this drain valve be replaced without replacing multiple expensive parts? Or is this even what the problem is?
Thanks for any help, Luke

Yes...

The drain valve lever/kit is available from Ford separate.. Not to bad to change either, and do fail on occasion... You might want to wash the Fuel/Water separator off, blow it dry and varify the leak origin.. Make sure it's not the line connectors ect..
