Dome Light and Cargo Light Staying on
Hi Everyone, I have a 2000 F250 power stroke. The problem I'm having is the dome light and cargo light won't turn off. I have checked and cleaned the door switches, made sure the switch for the light is okay. If I remove fuse 14 (interior light fuse) and relay 1 (interior lamp relay) they still stay on. From what I can tell from the schematic that I got online, is if I pull that relay it should turn off. Any thought on what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated.
This is what I would do.
When the light will not go off with the correct relay out, Remove the switch that turns on the dome light. If the relay is out and the dome light switch is unplugged AND all doors are closed the light should go out, does it?

I removed the switch, relay, no door ajar light on, comes on when I open door, light will dim a bit but still on. Only way to get it off is if I remove connector that attaches to fuse box under dash. Thinking I might have water in fuse box, causing it to be on.
If you can verify moisture is getting into the panel, first thing is to have the source of the leak repaired.
Then you might try to blow some warm air into it to dry it out. If there was any chance for corrosion to take place , an electrical contact cleaner might help.

So I took apart the fuse box and there was water and corrosion in between the plastic and metal layers. Used some emery cloth and cleaned up corrosion and contact clean to clean up plastic. Works perfect now. What would be the best thing to use to seal the connectors up, but still able to remove later on?
You need to be careful using emery cloth for electrical work because it is conductive.. Definitely make sure all remnants are removed.
Also, you might be able to use some dielectric grease which is available at most auto supply stores.
