Default First Oil Change

I have a new F250 6.0L Diesel and am new to the world of Diesel. The manual says oil changes every 7500 miles. I'm not comfortable waiting that long for the first one. Any recommendations? Also, I always used synthetics in my gas vehicles. Is that a good alternative for the 6.0?

You can run synthetic 15W40 truck oil in that with no worries. The manual says 7500 miles, but most diesel owners I know change oil at 5000 miles. Amsoil makes a great synthetic truck oil that is very popular with diesel owners and going the full 7500 miles will not hurt it in any way.
