A lot of the aftermarket parts supply stores use the ZD31 number. I am VERY surprised that Ford dealership would do that.

See the part numbers on the bags in the pics above?

You're awesome. I have gotten so many maybe this and maybe that even from parts places that I'm just drowning here

Now for the harness (buss bar). The early '04 with the 2003 engine (ICP behind the turbo and using the long glow plug) uses the following glow plug buss bars:
Right (pass) Side : 3C3Z-12A690-BA
Left (drivers) Side : 3C3Z-12A690-AA

My preference in buying OEM parts is to use AutoNation White Bear Lake on-line parts sales.
Tasca parts is good also.

SOMETIMES hipping from these places can get crazy.

Then I look at other options. One of those other options is to sign up for FordParts.com (anyone can), choose a local dealership to specify, then order the part to be delivered to the specified dealership. This method will eliminate shipping costs for you. Hopefully you have a couple of close-by Ford dealerships that you can specify in the system (one-at-a-time). Check the total price for each available local dealership. This is helpful because each dealership parts department will set the discount prices that they offer - and sometimes they are SIGNIFICANT!

There are several other places I will trust enough to shop:
RiffRaff Diesel
CNCFab

The last option is to print out a copy of the discounted internet price and ask a dealership parts counter person what they can do for you. When you get to know them, they will give you up to about 15% off. If they do not know you and are feeling like a jerk, you may get nothing. Doesn't hurt to try.

It looks like tasca. Fordparts online sends me to a dealer but dealer site says obsolete part and autonation says the part is this? 6.0L turbo diesel, maf sensor extension.
Totally different description from tasca

AutoNation system description is clearly "off", but they will get you the right part off of those numbers.

In FordParts.com, YOU are the one that needs to specify which dealer YOU want to use. It can be in your town, in a town close by, whatever ................

Who is planning on doing the glow plug work? If a person has not done it before, there are some potential pitfalls with the job .........

That is the one negative about ANY on-line Ford dealership with regards to parts ordering. They may not ACTUALLY have the part in inventory, but they say they do. You need to make some phone calls and get some personal conversations going as to the availability!

If you look up reviews on Tasca, some people say it is a scam business because they will occasionally say they have the part in stock when they don't. Every-so-often, the part really is unavailable and it makes them look REALLY bad! I still like them, but I am a tad more cautious with all of them now.

The wheel well liners really should be removed to get access to the glow plugs. The plugs and wiring can break off due to the heat affecting the plastic/etc. You do not want plastic and gasket material to get inside the engine.

Yes we have an oil filter, and all the oil SHOULD go through it before being pumped to the engine (low AND high pressure systems). That said, MANY of us believe that the filter bypasses on cold startups. It is not good to allow ANY contaminants past the oil filter. The best way to start protecting the engine is to keep the internal engine PRISTINE, as well as the sump oil!

Tools and techniques exist to get the plugs off and the glow plugs out without having to later remove the valve covers in a HOPE that contaminants can be recovered and removed. Lots more is available on this if you are interested .............
