Ignition switch
I have replaced several of those either broken or seized shift tubes and don't remember having to remove the key tumbler. Would you care to briefly tell me some of just how you went about this. There is a toothed rack that the tumbler had to index into . Did you make sure to do that?
I used to remove the upper section of the shift column and replace the tube on the workbench. Because the tube would rust and then jam the tube to the nylon bushing, I would file a spiral on the new tube and coat it with grease. Never had a problem after that.

Got it !
You will need to remove the tumbler piece again and look for anything that fell out of place. Make sure the rod from the upper rack that engages the switch on the lower piece of the column is not out of place.

When you removed the key tumbler the first time, I believe the tumbler was in the run position.
When you reinstalled it was it in the same position or was something moved.?
If you can manage to remove the key tumbler again , you should be able to turn the inside rack to all the positions , acc off, run, and start , can you do this ?
