Default No more Ford diesel?

I'm in the market for a new 1 ton crew cab and have been looking at all brands. I've been a ford man for years and currently have a '99 250 superduty with a V-10. I want to upgrade to a diesel but I'm hearing some strange things from salesmen (surprise, surprise). The Chevy dealer is trying to tell me that Ford is going to drop the diesel? I know they just recently settled a lawsuit with Navistar who made the diesel for them and that they are no longer going to make them for Ford. Is this all correct? If I buy the Ford am I going to be hanging in the wind? Are they going to start all over with a new company making the diesel?

Ford is currently in R&D of their own build 'Scorpion' diesel.. It's supossed to be a 6.7 liter, 390 Hp, 720 pounds of torque (or more) and will probably be a urea burner to get it to meet the low Nox emission standards.. Dual turbo like the 6.4, aluminium heads and some other changes, as well as bolted up to a new six speed auto trans.. Their claiming as much as 3 MPG mileage increases which would help sagging sales due to the flat mileage of the latest contender.. It's supossed to be out next year..
