Default no start when hot

Hi I am working on a pickup I just got and it will run for about 15 minutes and then just shuts off like you turned off the key. It will not start back up at all. If you let it sit for 4 to 5 hours it will then start back up. It is a 1989 ford f250 with auto trans and 5.8 liter engine. What could be causing this. I was told it could be the computer but am not sure.
