How does one remove the parking brake lever?
I see there are some attachign bolts but what else has to come out to get it removed.
The return spring is broken and I have snapped the short cable for the 2nd time.

Before you remove the parking brake assy might be a good idea to get the replacement one and get a better look at where everything is , that way you will get a better picture of the system. The hood release may be part of the assy. and ,,,,nice to know before taking apart unnecessary stuff.
If the assy is not painted might be a good idea to spray it to prevent corrosion and rusting. while you're at it now would be a good time to replace all the fwd cables.
You might check to make sure no water is getting down to that assy due to a leaking windshield. If that is taking place it could present some electrical problems that could drive you up the wall. Windshield leaking was a common problem with them. Some leaked right from the factory.

Good strategy I'll do that thank you.
Fortunately there is no evidence of leaking but I'll sure double check.
