Default Reak brake adjusting star wheel

1999 F 350 Diesel, 2WD

Which way does the brake shoe star get rotated to move the shoes outward?
Does it rotate top to bottom or vice versa?

Hi Eric,
The driver's side adjuster may turn clockwise and the passenger side adjuster turns the opposite way. Some arms that rotate the star wheel work lifting the arm others work lowering the arm.

Hanky,
OK. Thank you.
It is tricky to see inside to observe what is going on.
Best wishes,
Eric

It's always which ever way is the hardest for you to do...
I always have the same problem so that being said:

Turn the star-shaped adjuster a few times.

If it does not stop turning due to the pads hitting the drum, then turn the star in the other direction.

After the pads hit the drum, back the star wheel off by one click.

Good Luck
