2004 f250 super duty. 6.0 Two years ago the truck randomly didn't start, then it became more frequent and the tow gear light would be blinking and the truck idled high. After numerous attempts by various mechanics, I found a guy who said it sounded like transmission cable, easy fix. Truck ran without issue for 6 months and then it started up again, tow gear light blinking, when truck is turned off, it won't start. Take it back in and they say that I need the transmission rebuilt. Get that done, drive it home and drove it ONE SINGLE TIME and it's doing the same thing again. I'm going back to the same place just because at this point they owe me some kind of warranty on their 5k of work but does anybody have any ideas what the hell is going on?

 

It might help for you to get ForScan Lite on a smartphone (with the appropriate OBDII adapter). Total cost of $35 or so if you get the BAFX brand adapter. It will read transmission codes, and that might help.
