Default Towing a 2 car hauler

I'm thinking of getting my auto dealers license and am thinking about how I will haul cars from the auction. I am going to start small and purchase a 2 car hauler. I've never owned a diesel truck before but have driven Cummins diesels for years at work. I prefer Ford but know nothing about them. What truck would be best for hauling 2 cars and the trailer. Probably won't be driven but 2 or 3 times a month for hauling purposes. Like i said, starting off small so im gonna get an older truck. Probably early 2000s. Any input would be good. Im not gonna spend 20k+ on a truck that I seldom use or ill just pay to have the cars delivered. Thanks

Total Weight desired to haul?
Appropriate hitch installed?
Vehicle rated for towing weight and tongue weight.
That info will narrow down the field for you.

Trailer is just over 5k LBs and 2 cars can vary obviously, but on average maybe 4k lbs each. So that puts the total around 13k lbs.

I could always get a better hitch installed if the one on it isn't appropriate.

I'm guess I'm more wondering, will I gain much by going to a 350 instead of 250, do I for sure need a dually? Are there certain years that for sure have had troubles with transmissions going out from hauling or other weaknesses. I'm starting with a blank page here.

Are you envisioning a 5th Wheel type (goose neck) trailer? Guessing a tongue weight of 1300 sounds like a 350 class vehicle. Best to eyeball some specifications concerning dual wheel or not and 5th wheel versus "normal" hitch.
I have a 350 diesel 6 speed and it is rated for towing 10K single wheel axle.

Thanks. I was able to find the towing guides from Ford. Looks like I should look for a 350 diesel dually according to their guides. Yes, I think the gooseneck trailer might be the better option. The trailers can both hold the same weight but the Ford guide says with a gooseneck trailer you gain an extra 1k lbs or so towing g ability.
