truck stolen & need security help
My F250 was stolen yesterday. I've only had it for a month and lived in our new house for a week. It was stolen right out of the driveway. They slim-jimed the door, busted the steering column, andgot it started. It was found in a ditch not too far from the house. They were doing donuts and ran it into the ditch. No real damage, except for some scratches on the hood and fender from some brush and my bull bar is smashed. But the bastards stole all my stuff from the inside. If i would've heard them taking it, i would've emptied my AR-15 clip into that truck cab! Then put some .45 rounds into whatever fell out! But, the assclowns left a shotgun shell and McDonalds cup in it. We know a lot of people in the PD (dad's a Sheriff) so they said they can get prints and DNA. I'm waiting on fingerprinting to be done, insurance to do their slow thing, and the shop to fix it. I figure i'll be w/out it for a couple of weeks. What i need help from every one on is do you know of any good devices for the things i'm listing below? Who sells them? Websites, phone numbers, etc... I'm wanting to put all these, or most, on so this won't happen again. These were recommended by the police dept website. Price isn't an issue any more.
1. Ignition kill switch
2. Fuel kill switch (cutoff switch)
3. Gearshift lock (transmission shift disable)
4. Armoured collar around steering column
Also, it came w/ a factory alarm. Is it really an alarm or just a keyless entry? The horn honks when the lock button is pressed twice and when you hit the panic button. If it is an alarm, or if it's supposed to disable the starter, how did they bypass it?
Thanks & stay vigilant!

Sorry to hear about that, I can honestly say I feel your pain.
I would look at your sticker that came on the window, if you bought it new, It would tell you if it was anti-theft. If that is not part of the options, then it is just more of a keyless entry with panic button. It may sound the horn if it was locked and the door was opened, but won't do anything else. I would definatley check out an ignition kill switch. Someone tried to steal my Silverado I had. I had the anti theft system. They broke the ignition to try and start it, but wouldn't start, so they stole the stereo instead.[:@]. This happened in 2003 and it still gets me wryled thinking about it.
They also have the 2 way alarms out that have 2 to 5 mile radius. If someone sets the alarm, you keyfob alarms as well so you know it is happening. Which also have the ignition kill. Maybe your best bet to get the aftermarket type put in than a factory(which are usually an aftermarket system they made a deal with but charge a lot more than going down to a alarm intall shop)

Another weak spot on the Super Duty truck is the door handle. You can jam a strait screw driver into the door where the handle is insterted and force the lock rod up. Look at this link for a cure to that problem......http://www.trucksecurity.com/TScom,%20product%20JJ.htm. Also look into www.powerlock.com
You could try an immobilizer. It will disable the vehicle after 30 seconds after being hard started from a hotwire, or pretty much anything from no key.
That's the only crappy thing about the Super Duty's is that there's no PATS system in the keys until 08.

I definitely know how you feel. My 2006 F250 King Ranch was stolen on Jan 2,2008. The police were able to obtain a fuzzy video from the parking lot camera. It shows a car pulling along side my truck and someone gets out and was in my truck and driving it in 1 min 15 seconds. The door was jimmied with a screwdriver and the ignition was jimmied also. The truck was found by the Texas Highway Patrol 12 days later in McAllen, Texas. (400 miles away) The stolen truck did not bother me near as much as the theft of what was inthe truck. There was a total of $15,700 worth of equipment inside the truck. A majority of this stuff cannot be replaced.... This was the second time my truck was broken into. The first time they jimmied the lock and backed it up about 10 feet. I think they were scared away. This time they stole about $500 worth of stuff from inside the truck.
Here in the southern part of Texas, there is a great desire for the big F250 and F350s. They use the trucks with the 4X4 to evade the border patrol and cross into and out of Mexico. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, they charge as much as$5000 per person to smuggle illegals into theUS and these type of trucks enable them to avoid thepolice/border patrol. I wish I would have known this before I bought the truck. Nothing is more agonizing and maddening than knowing that someonewas inyour vehicle nad had access to all the stuff in it and then drove it anyway they wanted. You work long and hard to get a$50,000truck and someone takes it from you without even thinking it is bad.If I can catch someone doing this, heaven forbid, I am a licensed concealed weapons holder and would not hesitate to empty an entire clip into the jerk and habve a big smile
on my face when I do it.

is there a circuitcity or best buy nearby where you live? you can purchase your security system there and install is included in the price, usually 250.00 -300.00 for the top end systems that include your killswitch and the like. Worth checking out if they're in your area.
It's been a while since i've been on here. But i did buy a high-end alarm system for it. I also got an additional perimiter sensor that can have the sensitivity adjusted. It can be set to where if any one is w/in a foot of the truck while it's armed, it'll go off. The alarm has a glass breaking sensor as well. It even has the key fob that's a pager and goes off when the alarm goes off and shows you what part of the truck has been violated. I haven't had that installed yet, but that will be done soon. I did get the Ravelco system installed. It cost $469.95 but seems totally worth it. It's impossible to start the truck w/out the plug inserted. I haven't had any attempts on the truck since i got it back, thank god, but if i do, i'm confident the Ravelco will do it's job. I watched the guy install it and you never even know it's on there b/c the wires are all the same color (thiefs don't know what to cut) and match-up w/ the factory wiring looms. All wires in the engine bay are well hidden. The only visible thing is the plug which is under the dash. But you have to know what you're looking for when you get in it. I would highly recommend it to any one w/ an F250 or F350. Spending a little under $500 is a good investment to save your $50K rig. They might steal your stuff inside, but they won't get your whole truck. He even told me a story about when he went hunting in south Texas. They went across the border to hund dove there and the guide showed him his vehicles. They were all F250's w/ Texas plates. They were all stolen and he only paid $1000 each for them. He wanted the Ravelco guy to install the system on all his (stolen) trucks. He didn't do it, but it's ashame that our vehicles end-up there. Seriously, you should get this installed on your truck ASAP! Look them up on the web www.ravelco.com and they can direct you to a local installer. The guy, Vin, in the Houston area will come to your house or office to install it for you. It takes about an hour to do. He's terrific. Only down side, if you break your original appointment date he won't come to you again. You have to go to his place in Richmond. He mostly only works M-F. Hint: If you get your wife or girlfriend to call and say it's a surprise or gift for you, he'll come out on a Saturday. Just make sure she's sounds really nice and sweet and greatful on the phone. But you didn't hear that from me. You should be there when he installs it. He's a super guy w/ some great stories.
