V-10 or Diesel
Hey everyone,
I am looking at purchasing an F 250 or F 350 (4x4) in the next few months. The reason for this is my family is looking at a 30' to 35' 5th Wheel Trailer. The trailer will be parked most of the time, but i want a truck that can pull the trailer when necessary. Which engine would you recommend, the V-10 or the Diesel. ( i will most likely be buying a used truck if that makes a difference) Thanks for your Help

Either will do the job fine. If you get a V10 ensure you buy one that has 4.30 or numerically higher gears.
Ford diesels have a track record for being so-so (since the 6.0L). I wouldn't advise getting a 6.4L due to it not getting much better mileage than the V10 and a 6.0L is just a mistake anyway.

Thanks eightrac i appreciate the response. Would a 4.10 gear ratio but much different than the 4.30. Those are the two options when building a truck on Fords website. And have you heard anything about the longevity of the V-10 engine? Any major mechanical problems that i should be worried about. I most likely will only put between 8,000 and 10,000 miles a year on my truck when i have it if that helps.....
