Default V10 races on initial startup

I have a 2019 V10 which runs up to about 1,700 RPM on initial startup. It quickly settles to a normal idle and otherwise performs very well. But I am concerned about engine wear, running a cold engine that high before oil pressure/circulation is established. Anyone run into this?

How long has it been like this ?
Were any parts replaced and this then took place ?

Hello, thanks, I bought it used in June 2024 with about 10K miles on it. It was doing it when I bought it, and I bought it from a dealer so I have no way of finding out its service history.

The hi idle on start up is programmed into the PCM (Computer). It does sound kinda high and the reason I asked was if the idle air control was ever replaced and not allow the computer to set it , could be one of the reasons it idles so high.
The better thing to do would be to have a shop verify the RPM `and reset the IAC.
Depending on how involved you want to get, would require removing the battery negative cable from the battery, this erases memory and radio stations mirrors and shift scheduling. Do you want to get further into this ?

Would you want to have the selling dealer correct this ?

Hello, thank you very much! Do you say that if I just disconnected the battery negative terminal, maybe left it off for a few minutes it maybe could reset this problem? The seller-- it was a lot, not a dealership per se so I wouldn't want them to try to do anything.

If you leave that negative cable off and go have a cup of coffee then come out and reconnect the cable back onto the negative post of the battery, you can start the engine, BUT DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE PEDAL. The computer will set the correct idle speed.
Let us know how you make out with this, thanks. You will need to drive your vehicle normally a few miles for the computer to reset shift scheduling..

Thank you for our help. Sadly, ungrounding the battery didn't fix it. Any other ideas? In your previous message you mentioned a mechanic resetting the IAC. Is that done by physically adjusting the IAC or via the PCM and its portal?

What I suggested was a forced reset. The IAC is set automatically by the PCM. That IAC may be damaged.
