I lodged a tree branch under my truck and it broke a piece that is now leaking Transmission fluid. I have a couple of pictures but I haven't been able to identify what it is and how to fix it. Any thoughts? Found this in a video Found this in a video Actual picture of my truck
That's called Range Sensor electrical connector. You can see from your own pic that the range sensor is already right next to that connector.
You can buy just the connector replacement. Search Motorcraft WPT1398 (example only since your vehicle is unknown, check my signature below), quite expensive even at rockauto.
Even if you buy that you are going to have to do cutting and splicing/reconnecting using the enclosed non-insulated butt connectors, just like repairing yours, so are you sure your connector is not repairable? You can save yourself $120.
Thanks for the responses! It is a 2014 F350.
It turned out that it had just pulled the sleeve out a little bit. I was able to push it back in and it seems okay-ish. I bent a couple of pins and had to straighten them back out when I took the wire portion off. The truck seemed fine until I towed a few dump trailers full of gravel. Then for some reason the shifting started acting up it would go from 1st to 2nd but then when it was time to go to 3rd it would rev the engine and then wait until the rpms were low enough and reset back to 1st. Then the second time around it would shift correctly. The computer alerted and I have a scheduled appointment with a mechanic but they seemed unsure if they would be able to help.
Something reset after I turned the truck off and now it is working fine but I haven't tried towing again.
