Wire Light Bar to High Beams-F-350-New Install
I bought 2021 Ford F-350 Gas for a work truck. I want to mount a LED light bar on the front. Does anyone have experience wiring in the light bar with a 3 Way SPDT Switch so the Lite Bar can function only when the High Beam is on?
This is what you might consider,
Purchase a fuse holder ,
Find a convenient place to tap into one of the hi beam wires supplying the headlamps.
Splice into that wire the fuse holder , then run a wire from the other end of the fuse holder to the center of the the 3 way sw.
When the high beams are on power will be available to the switch. If the switch is in one position the power will go to the bar. In the other position no power will go to the light bar.
Wiring can be done neatly and function without problems. Careless work may get by for a while , but the right way not only works correctly, but doesn't look like the local butcher did the work.
The fuse you place in the fuse holder will prevent any short circuit problems if the newly run wires get pinched or shorted.. The size of the fuse is determined by how much the light bar pulls, might start with a 5 amp fuse.

Thank you very much for the information. I am big on silver soldering electrical connections and using a good quality heat shrink, nothing absorbs time better than looking for a short or dead connection, been there / done that.
The last Ford I purchased was a used 1980 F-150, the one with all the holes in the frame...never considered a Ford till now.
I just discovered the MotorCraft access to service manuals. 72 hr access for $22.00 USD. You can print the page off, or save in PDF, excellent feature, I never knew about but what a excellent resource for the handyman.
Hanky, going to find the HB wire and tap into it. Never thought of the fuse, but cheap insurance, again thanks, your direction / suggestions are much appreciated.
