Default Xerex G05 coolant

Is the Xerex brand G05 coolant suitable in my 2005 6 liter diesel F350. I have trouble locating the motorcraft gold instead. Thanks

Xerex has been around for many years and is a permanent anti-freeze. Just check the instructions and applications on the label.

The G05 coolants are all susceptible to precipitating out solids at high engine temps and IF exposed to combustion gas from any slight head gasket leak or EGR cooler leak. The Ford Coolant must be changed out every 40k miles AND it must not be exposed to high heat. This is a VERY hard thing to expect in a 6.0L engine.

The EC-1 rated ELC coolants have proven to be the clear choice for the 6.0L engine. Hundred thousand + of miles service life. Zerex has their brand and there are other common ones, like Rotella. Rotella is the one most commonly used brands. They have a Nitrite free and a Nitrited version. Both work well.

Every 6.0L owner, especially the ones using the Ford Gold, must always keep an eye on coolant and oil temperatures - from PCM data, not the useless dash gauge.

The unfortunate thing about the 6.0L and G05 coolant is that if the engine is worked hard and the coolant isn't up to the task of withstanding the temperatures, solids drop out, plug the oil cooler, and things get worse and worse.
