Greetings, I bought a 500 for my girlfriend and the transmission has problems. The symptoms include it won't "shift" after coming to a stop (limp mode?). The RPMs just keep climbing. If we turn the car off and back on then it will run perfectly until we come to another stop. Happens when the transmission is cold or warmed up.

I've never owned a vehicle with this type of transmission. Where should I start besides checking the fluid level?

I'm 11 months into ownership of a 2006, so far all good.
So hope: 1) someone chips in who knows what you might do, and
2 ) hope you'll post details as problem is resolved ...

Didn't read your request closely. I got my 500 one year ago with 210,000 on it and a never-been-serviced tranny.

My car doesn't have your unit's problems - yet. But, with all the 'bad' stories about these types of trannies (not just Ford), I did tranny drain and fill (5 qts) CVT tranny fluid 3 times (immediately upon ownership, and twice since). After the last one it did run slightly better, but improvement could have just been my mind rewarding me. So my 500 is in the preventive maintenance phase.
