I did an oil change. Valvoline oil which smelled bad after oil change. Spark plugs covered in oil. So i replaced valve cover gasket, spark plugs, and still smelled. Garage thought a rotting animal was stuck somewhere.

i happened to open the left over oil from the oil change, and smelled sour. I lit some on fire to duplicate engine smell. Took it to autozone, and they said that container has transmission fluid not oil. Smelled like oil when i put it in the car. Must've been mixed. So i am having the garage change the oil, and clean the engine before adding new oil.

I am filing a claim with valvoline. Trying to get them to pay everything, and give a 3 year warranty. +$100 For my time, headaches. Too much to ask?

 

Most quality oil producers utilize strict control of their products ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, unless someone else packaged it for them.
Still, if you can provide the defective product and are truthful, most of the companies don't need bad publicity and are willing to stand by their product. Save the questionable stuff and get in touch with the home office. Most good companies will want to see and check the claim and some do compensate more than fairly !
